Blogging on a Tuesday… Hello Blogmas! This is the first of a four part series on ‘owning’ your Christmas Parties! What to wear? It’s the hardest part for any of us… Because we’ve got nothing to wear in our twenty five wardrobes! Nothing!

Whether you like to dress up or go casual, Christmas parties are a time when we reach for the sequins. Here are some of my favourite dresses that have been lingering in my ASOS saved bag for a long long time.

YES… I’m still hoarding this Needle & Thread number.

There’s definitely a theme here with colour… I’m drawn to these pure, simple, elegant tones.

This dress is so pretty and has just the right amount of sparkle for the festive season. If I’m not choosing cream or flesh tones I revert to the opposite end of the spectrum for black!

This off the shoulder dress is so sexy and on trend at the moment.

Lace is just always a good idea.

This leather look play suit will also rock the Christmas party! You could pair it with opaque tights and a blazer in the day. I think there are a number of important factors to remember when dressing for a party.

1. Make sure you are aware of the dress code. If it’s black-tie or casual. {We all remember Bridget Jones arriving in her bunny suit!}

2. If your party starts at lunch, be mindful that you’ll need a day-night transition.

3. Have you broken in your shoes? {usually I’ll wear new shoes around the house with socks for a few hours -alternatively half fill two freezer bags with water put them into the shoes and into your freezer for 2/3 days… Water expands by 9% when it freezes}

4. Are you comfortable in what you’re wearing? Your greatest accessory is the beautiful smile on your face! There’s nothing worse than tugging on clothes you’re uncomfortable in.

5. Make sure to ‘invest in’ or have the right underwear washed and ready to go! It makes all the difference.

6. Ladies I know we’re fixated with numbers…but honestly it’s irrelevant, pouring yourself in a smaller size can sometimes have the opposite effect. A free moving body is a lot sexier.

7. A high heel is a Godsend particularly for the smaller packages like myself, but if you can’t walk in it; don’t wear it!
